Executive Coaching

How Executive Coaching works?

Executive coaching works by setting up a relationship between an individual and a coach on a one on one basis. The coach facilitates and drives the process tailored to the individuals needs.

The first stage then of any executive coaching process is the assessment of needs i.e. to identify as clearly as possible the persons' coaching goals whether they be business issues, leadership development, personal issues or a mixture of all of these. Following this, an initial contract of between twelve and twenty sessions is arranged.

Often it is a good idea for some of these sessions to be held off-site in order to protect the time and give the executive more opportunity to reflect on the session. From the coach's point of view, it is helpful for some sessions to be held at the manager's office in order to get a better feel for the organisational context. Each session lasts between one and two hours, with intervals of anything from one to four weeks.

The key purpose of an executive coaching series is to provide the opportunity for an individual to work with someone who can bring honest, objective and expert feedback in a confidential and independant setting. It provides a sounding board, a forum to reflect and open up to new thoughts and the opportunity to try something different and build with real actions. The result is long term value from the experience.
